About Us & Affiliates

What is Nihilium Wave?
Nihilium Wave (NW for short) is a group separate from other projects of xSeeli3x.
It is difficult to explain that most of us are separate, and so, decided to guide our own work.We mainly take care of our own works, mostly Vocal-Synth focused, but we also aim for further, bigger projects.

What is HaretsuLoids?
HaretsuLoids is a tiny group of ours, like a subdivision of it. They focus, mainly, on the UTAUs Megumi Haretsu and Liam Haretsu.

What is Chromoid Project?
It's a project we made as a love letter to the old UTAU days. Around 2010. It was intended to be fully separate, though circumstances led to CHROMOID being under shared ownership with Fractured Hope Co..
We voice and do our usual mixing, configuration and misc. assets, while they take care of distribution. However, Chromoid Project is more than just the CHROMOID voicebank.The Chromoid Project includes a Wiki, wich we take care of.

What is going on with the old websites?
Due to some circumstances, we had to move several times. However, we keep the old websites as temporary archives until we can finish fixing and reuploading everything.As well, there were some issues regarding Terms of Use that required fixing. As of 18th July 2026, these issues have been fixed.

What is the Chromoid Wiki?
It's part of the Chromoid Project, the intended usage is expansive and detailed documentation of the voicebanks (^{specially certain usages or long voicebank collections like the Chance Reclist or AC}) and other future projects of our affiliates.About VocaDB and UTAU Wiki, we keep those at the bare minimum of detail, so users can have the most relevant details about the voicebanks first.The details on UTAU Wiki 2.0 can't be relied, as we have no intention to edit on it. This is relevant to projects under xSeeli3x's management as well.

Can I affiliate/collaborate with Nihilium Wave?
As long as you ask us about it and we can discuss towards an agreement where we are all satisfied, yes.We can be VP, designers, oto'ers, mixers, distributors... It all comes to how the contract specifies it.

I don't want my voicebank/character anymore. Can you take care of it?
It depends. If you're going to regret it and try to "reclaim" it, don't. We are not a foster home.If a voicebank of yours ended up on our hands and you wish to have it back, or wish to have it removed/taken down, please contact us first.

About Terms of Use

What is the difference between Nihilium Wave's ToU and affiliate's ToU?
NW's ToU are very similar to xSeeli3x's default Terms of Use, however we do have some differences about specifications regardings characters or commercial usage.
In regards to CHROMOID, they follow Fractured Hope Co.'s ToU.About the HaretsuLoids... the data provided in different places is not accurate and pretty unstable due to differences in the views between older ownerships, so we are in the works of fixing the data from the HaretsuLoids voicebanks and making a solid, final version of their Terms of Use. This version has already been released in this page, and it has priority over any other version you may find.

What is the problem with Commercial Usage?
We respect the wishes of each voice provider regarding the Terms of Use of each voicebank.
Sometimes, Commercial Usage may require a license. Others, it is included for free in the voicebank. Of course, this does not mean you can't make original songs, it means you won't be able to sell them or get profit with them unless it is specified in the Terms of Use of the voicebank you're using.

Voicebank/Character Related

Who even is the VP of your voicebanks? All of them sound similar, but some are credited inconsistently!
As we established above, we respect the wishes of each voice provider. If they wish to use their own identity to be credit, let it be so. If they wish to be anonymous, let it be so.Whatever the case is, if you need to credit a VP, always use the name specified in the Readme of each voicebank.

Wich voicebanks are considered "mascotless"? Can I make my own interpretation of their mascot?
Our WaveLenght Series are all mascotless. Aside from that, Languore and CHROMOID are mascotless.Languore's main voicebank includes our own mascot for promotional material and BETA/Early Releases, though it is heavily encouraged to make your own mascot.As for CHROMOID, this should reply to your questions.

Is there any other voicebank you will be releasing?
Maybe. Our current focus is fixing/uploading the data from the voicebanks we have already. The biggest update is separate releases of UTAU/OpenUTAU softwares.Though, Heccan is planned to be left on Legacy state (^{won't receive updates}) and Caché Völatta may be re-released if the VP agrees.Apart from that, we have the WaveLenght Series that includes Njad'jara, AC/AlteriCide, Ilaiya and Quantica.

What is even the point if all of them sound the same?
Each Voicebank has it's unique quirks. Some of them have specific purposes, like AC (reclist testing) or Languore (versatility of voice colors/appends). Others, are character-focused, being recorded as the identity wishes their character to be.It's hard to give a clear answer to this. We rarely record more than one UTAU per session, as we prefer to capture the essence of the moment.

Do you even care about quality!?
Yes. We do. A lot, actually. It's the main reason you don't see 80 appends/languages for 20 different characters.

Why was the voicebank Caché Völatta discontinued?
Out of personal desire from Voice Provider.

What are your other projects, aside from UTAU?
We have something in our hands right now, but we can't post anything about it yet. We apologize.

What is the WaveLenght Series?
A name just for convenience and organization of our mascotless voicebanks that fit certain criteria.

Voicebank Usage

Why do the voicebanks have separate releases for UTAU and OpenUTAU? Aren't they both supposed to be compatible?
For some reason, some voicebanks even if supposedly working for both programs, break the format of the oto.ini - as well, UTAU is not a fan of certain formats that OpenUTAU tolerates.As well, OU is different when it comes to the voicebanks, making them smoother - in some cases, TOO smooth, wich makes the voicebanks tested in OU only to sound choppy or "badly oto'ed" in UTAU. Some resamplers and flags also work differently. I don't know why, I'm not an OU developer, don't ask me.Also, there's already quite a few distributions of OpenUTAU for different reasons and each one of them may process the voicebanks differently... this is specially notable between the original OpenUTAU releases and other distributions like Cadlaxa's, UtauV, Lunai...As well, some users can only use UTAU or OpenUTAU and not both programs, wich makes it easier to deal with if each one has to download only one version instead of trying to troubleshoot problems that come from voicebanks in a different version.

How should I write each UTAU's name?
In the Terms of Use file of each Voicebank, you should find a list of names you can adress the voicebank as.

Do I have to use OpenUTAU, original/vanilla UTAU, or any specific OU distribution?
You can use any you wish, unless it is specified in the voicebank page.Aditionally, separate releases may be done for specific voicebanks for reasons stated above. Please do not use voicebanks meant for UTAU only in OpenUTAU, or viceversa.

Will you release voices for RVC, DiffSinger, NiaoNiao, Vocoflex... etc?
Who knows. Whatever the case is, it will, most likely, be defined in each voicebank's page.

Why are there various settings listed in the Readme?
Usually, the instructions have a list of ideal Resamplers, Wavtools and Flags. Please, use them, otherwise the voicebank could break or sound incorrectly.

Can I use my own preffered settings instead?
No. The settings are tested specifically to make the voicebanks sound as they should. Using any other setting may cause the voicebank to break or sound incorrectly.

Can I ignore the FLAGS or use my own?
No. Some FLAGS are specifically made to fit each voicebank's needs.Unless specified in the Readme that you can experiment with FLAGS or explicitly said by us, please follow this rule.

Can I Plug & Play an UST file?
Not recommended, but we can't police you. Do as you wish.

Why isn't the Romaji/Hiragana alising of the voicebanks uniform?
As we've grown and learnt, we changed the way we alias our voicebanks to our needs.It's not a priority to unify them, and we may only do so when we decide.

X UTAU is... too smooth and I can't actually hear anything.
Try using different resampler/wavtool combination, different phonemizer, or reset all expression settings from the UST/USTx or whatever file extension you have.... As well, make sure you have done all of the troubleshooting you can find in this FAQ page. It's not here as a decoration, you know?

UTAU

How do I install the voicebanks?
Simply download the UTAU release and extract it into your Voices folder.

Some phonemes do not work.
Check that the aliases are correct in the UST and that the format of the UST you're using corresponds to the type of voicebank you're using. Also check that the FRQ files are okay.If you're using any of the Chance Reclist voicebanks, you may need to use manual edition.

How do I adapt an UST to the voicebanks?
Select all notes, move them to the appropiate Logical Range. Check Note Properties, then Clear and Reset the Overlap and Preutterance. Make sure that there is no text in the Flags box, and there is no STP or BRE settings. Then hit ACPT or Reset, then P2P3 in the UTAU tool box.

The rendered result is empty, but in the UTAU editor it sounds fine. What's happening?
Replace the Rest Notes (R) with a question mark (?) and render it again.Some resampler/wavtool combinations have required us to do this, otherwise it doesn't render. We do not know why.

OpenUTAU

How do I install a voicebank?
There's two ways.You can drag and drop the .zip file, make sure that everything displays correctly and install it. This is the average installation method.Sometimes, that breaks the voicebank, so extracting the .zip file into the Singers folder is a good option.

Can I use Wordline-R?
No. Unless specified in any voicebank, these resamplers WILL cause the voicebanks to break and sound wrong.

Some Resamplers/Wavtools break certain voicebank...
Wavtool4vcv has resulted to be a good one for OpenUTAU in some of our voicebanks (if they happen to, somehow, eat all the consonants). As well, take note that not all OU distributions handle consonants the same way and it may affect the result.

Wich OpenUTAU phonemizer do I use?
Default one is usually recommended.
Mostly because the JA VCV & CVVC phonemizers, wich should be recommended, rarely work on our end, and we can't test or confirm that the aliases won't break. That's why the voicebanks usually include Romaji and Hiragana encoding.

X UTAU doesn't correctly read the Hiragana/Romaji aliases in OpenUTAU.
... If any of the responses above has not fixed your issue yet, try using the built-in VCV to CV / hiragana-romaji converters. If those still don't work, you can use OU's built-in tools to substitute the required phonemes... or use IroIro to batch-edit phonemes.

How do I use flags in OpenUTAU?
You will have to make your way around it in the OpenUTAU parameters or use a Template + correct resamplers.

Chance Reclist

What actually is it? I don't understand the purpose.
The Chance Reclist was created when OpenUTAU didn't even exist as an idea, it's from 2018 and we kept developing it along xSeeli3x.It's purpose is being a multilingual reclist with the (somehow to this day) unique trait of being made to help Spanish UTAU users (from Spain) as a "middle point" or "begginer friendly" point to more complex languages and reclists.But that is the second main purpose. Actually, the first purpose, is to let the user have enough room to experiment with phonetics and create their own languages (conlangs).

The pronunciation list is different from the work provided.
We're still working into developing AC [Fortune], wich is the 2026 Chance Reclist sample voicebank.Old versions of the Chance Reclist are found in voicebanks like Heccan [Libra] and AC [Roulette].

Can I make my own reclist based in the Chance Reclist?
There's many reclists out there with many formats and languages, some of them are even the same thing. As long as you mention somewhere in the reclist that you based/inspired yourself by the Chance Reclist, it is allowed.

Can I make my own documentation of the reclist?
That would be very helpful.
